Suggestions and thoughts on a 2004 Benz Warrenty package...

hey guys,

first off just want to say i love this forum and i wish i could cotribute more but this is my first benz so im in the learning process! other then that you guys pretty much nail questions on the spot.

so back to my warranty question...

2004, E320 Benz with 75k mileage on it. Recently i had to replace the front left shock due to airmatic issues (yes it cost me a grand).

now i want to get warranty for my car... what are MUST HAVES IN THE PACKAGE?

i want to make sure i dont get screwed.

thanks again fellas.

Sell the car now. A warranty package on an out-of-warranty car that is 6 years old and has 75k miles is not going to be cheap. Its a losing proposition for a warranty company, so they are going to charge big $$$$. Why you purchased an E320 with the optional airmatic (A.K.A crapmatic) is beyond me. It was not a good idea.

How problematic has the car been? Do you replace parts only when they break or do you replace them as they age? Keep in mind that I am on the side of no extended warranties ever on anything. That being said, your car is reaching the age where things are going to be wearing out. For example, front end rubber may be deteriorating to the point that you notice the ride not being as nice as it once was, but not to the point that it's broken and a warranty issue. Do you do any work on your car yourself? All of these types of things need to be considered. As said above, it probably isn't going to be cheap, at least for a good one it won't. And what you are buying is an insurance policy and in the long run, the insurance companies are always going to win.
