My name is TURBO4010 and I AM An ADDICT
I drive a 1984 300D. 3.0 liter, 5 cylinder in-line turbocharged diesel in a W123 body. Not my first. Just love the PanzerVagon! Part Cadillac, part army tank--floats like a butterfly, stings like a bulldozer. Pulled many trucks out of the ditch with them.
Diesel freak from before it was cool. My dad and grandpa monster garaged turbochargers on John Deere tractors in the 60's and ruled the tractor pulls. (And the cornfields, as a matter of fact). Dad bought a new ford van about 1979 and promptly blew the gas motor and trans. He had a witty mechanic throw in a Mitsubishi turbo diesel, and sold it after driving 300,000 miles without incident.
We traveled the country in that van every summer, and since then a humming diesel just sounds like home. There should be a diesel track on the soothing sounds disc alongside ocean waves and brook babble.
Only now is the general public catching on to the superior service life and performance capability of diesel power.
Someday people will follow truth rather than fads--until then leaders walk alone. Except for those rare occurrences when truth eclipses briefly into vogue.
The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools -Ecclesiastes 9:17
