Hi all - My name is Mernon Lollich and I live in north coastal California near Eureka. I've run Rolls-Royces for the last 20 years and have loved them for 65 years, but now have switched to Mercedes-Benz. I'm approaching 80 at warp speed and the old investments have shrunk, so it was time to downsize and dispense with The Silver Cloud and my "spare" car (rather important with a Rolls).
I found a sweet little Black Pearl 1992 300E 3.0 locally and am delighted with it. Bought it in December from a German car mechanic who kept it up nicely. I've driven it about 5k miles since then and it's just hit 203k. Had the bonnet repainted (peeling clearcoat), the motor mounts, fan bearing, timing cover lower seal and rocker cover gasket replaced etc. After claying and waxing she looks (and handles) like a new car. Joined MBCA in December.
Next step, (possibly) replacing it with an 80s or earlier 300SEL (I like BIG). My question concerns which years to avoid - I've heard bad things about the cars built after '92 (wiring, general reliability etc.).
Sorry for being so long-winded, but any pointers will be appreciated.

Reason: I've given the 300E to my daughter and replaced it with a gorgeous 1991 350SDL, black w/grey interior.
