IF the dealer treats enuff people badly, its sales will fall below what Mercedes expects and it will cancel them.
BUT ... you're a little unclear on what constitutes a recall.
In addition, no one is going to take you seriously when you complain about use of rebuilt parts. They are simply more economical and in no way inferior to new parts--they have a warranty, too. The dealership tried to save you some money, and at this point you'll pay to have the rebuilt parts removed and the new ones installed and you'll pay more for the new parts.
The real moral to this story is it's too bad the roadside assistance guy tried to be "nice." If he'd kept his mouth shut, you and everyone else would be happier.
No no, I am not saying anything that they did something they should not have done. I mean maybe they should have only changed the conductor plate and it would be fine BUT you could never know that. Mine is just an assumption and knowing that they sold me a part as if it was new makes me thing "hey maybe they did not even have to change anything to fix the problem" I also told in details so that whoever reads this post has a better understanding of the situation.
Basically, I feel cheated because I purchased a part thinking it is new (I have purchased parts from this same dealer many times before and they were all new) and nobody told me that I was buying a remanufactured part. They did not give me a discount because it was remanufactured. I got their internet pricing like anybody who would buy from them at their online pricing.
I am saying that if I knew I was not getting a new part, I would have acted accordingly. Why hide this from me? Say, you go buy a TV thinking it is brand new and after you purchased, they say "just so you know, this TV was refurbished". This is not right at all. Give me the buying choice, don't make that decision for me.
Also, the guy who I purchased the parts, tells the manager that he explained to me all this before I purchased. Basically, he is telling me that I am a liar.
One other issue is this; USUALLY brand new products tend to last longer than remanufactured and/or used products. Say, this part if it were new would last five years but the remanufactured one may last only three years. Why would I lose that two years?
Sorry, if too much detail in my original post is confusing
