SLK 200 - Braking not what it should be?

Hi all,

This is my first post on here, so hello to you all!!

I've had my SLK200 since Oct last year, it is a current model. Just had the car serviced and asked for the brakes to be looked over. The problem is, when braking fairly hard from, say, 60'ish, I get a feeling of 'fade' which doesn't insprire confidence. Merc have checked them and all appears well, but the feel is just not right. I drive a few cars, had 3 series BMWs and a big fan of the Toyota MR2, currently have a MK2 Rev5. Never had an issue with brakes before but the SLK does not inspire confidence, at all. Does anyone else feel the same, is it just an SLK 'thing' or should I get an independent to take a llok at it?

Thanks in advance!

But what did they do? Simply glance at the pads?

If you are unhappy with your braking (and your tires are good) you should get it checked on a dynamic brake testing system, which is a rolling road. Then you get a set of readings which can be compared with the optimum values.
