Post SRS- restraint system service

hello
could someone please advise on why "restraint system service" is displayed and the SRS light comes on every time my passenger gets out and closes the door and it has gradually started to stay on longer

I initially thought it may be the seat belt sensor but now Im wondering if its the door closing thats moving the sensor?

Also as I have leather interior my daughter has a heavy car blanket for cold mornings which is left on fron seat after she gets out.. could this be impacting it?

hope someone can help

There's a weight sensor, too, since airbag will not go off it seat is unoccupied.

Sensor will also respond to Mercedes child seat with Babysmart feature and turn off the airbag.

If your SRS light comes on, and you have DTC (error code) B106F stored in the airbag control unit, it could be a faulty ACSR sensor mat. (as suggested by lkchris above)

Info from WIS, updated in 2004.

There is no error code displayed it just reads "restraint system service" and the red SRS light light comes on.

it only appears to come n when the passenger door is shut, do you thing it may be the door sensor??

The error code will not be displayed at the cluster. You have to read it with OBD 11 code reader.
