Keyless Entry

I just bought a 2006 CLS 500 with keyless go/entry. All doors except for the driver's door seem to work (automatically unlock when I have my key in my pocket and the pull the door handle). Any idea how much it may cost to fix the driver's door handle?

It sounds like either 1 of 2 things. The mechanical locking mechanism could be binding or the vacuum/pressure hose from the PSE pump might have come loose. Take the door apart and inspect those. Can you unlock the door by pulling up on the button as it is? If so then it's more likely the PSE line. Even if you have someone else do the work, I doubt it would cost very much. Good luck.

depends on what you consider very much.
My dealer charges over $200 for replacing light bulb in the cluster.
With $150/hr doesn't take much to run pretty high.
As MM said -check if inside button will operate the trouble door. If it does -the trouble would be probably on electronic side. If it doesn't simple things MM suggest are more likely. The keyless system is not popular Enoch to have too much exposure on this forum. Most of the time when you hear about it is when husband hitchhike with his wife to pick up some part and after dropping wife at the gym, he drives few miles to red light only to realize that the key is in wife's bag.
Without the key present the engine will keep on running till you stop the car

I assume the door handle is the same part as on a W211. These are prone to fail, it would then be the KG sensor part at the handle. You would find more info from the W211 section. I cannot remember if there are DIY instructions.

Mercedes dealer charged me $447.00 to replace the drivers door handle to correct keyless entry problem approx. 3 years ago. It now is doing the same thing. It seems mercedes parts are made to break so we can keep paying for the same shit.

But look at the bright side. The dealers always wash your car with the service.
