Sorry for the long post, but I think it will be worth it to those who can take advantage of this, I wrote a blog article about this program last week at daveknowscars.com
and I posted this same thread in few of the newer car forums here at benzworld.org
I thought I'd put this out here... something to take advantage of if you're a USAA
member. I'll post it on a few of the other newer car forums.
There is a huge fleet incentive available to USAA members when buying a new Mercedes-Benz... invoice price for the car, plus additional fleet discounts on top of that... between $1000 and $5000 depending upon the new Mercedes your buying, BELOW INVOICE. There is no haggling, no negotiation. It's EASY!
I posted the whole press release about this program (which has been available since last summer) and wrote a bit about it on my DaveKnowsCars.com blog (URL in my signature), the USAA post is towards the bottom on the front page of the blog.
If you use USAA already you'll know this.. if not: USAA is a financial services company that offers financial services, insurance, other such things, to honorably discharged military members, current active military, and their extended families.
Coincidentally, I've had USAA auto insurance since I was 16 because my dad was in the Air Force 40 years ago... I'm his son, so I can get USAA services.
On the USAA website you use their car buying service, ZAG. Basically, the website will generate a fleet reference number for you as a USAA member. You go to the dealer, pick out the car, all incentives will be applied.
That's how it works more or less. It works for dealers because they get to move a unit, USAA and Mercedes-Benz works the rest out between themselves.
If you mention this program and a salesperson says anything except "Great sir, we participate in that program, let's pick out a car, the price of the car is dictated by USAA and ZAG" you should walk out the door to another dealership. If they aren't aware of the program, I'd be wary of them... what else aren't they aware of?
It is a no brainer program for any Mercedes-Benz dealer, it's the easiest way to buy a new Mercedes as a customer. As a USAA member there is no uncomfortable haggling, you get invoice, plus whatever incentive is on the model you're interested in... anywhere between $1000 and $5000 (C and GLK models get $1000 I think, bigger stuff gets the full $5k, S classes, etc.)
