Unhappy E320 1995 engines shakes, DTC code 10 flashes

I have a E320 1994. Engines shakes hard when start and driving. I replaced new spark splug. problem did not go awa so I took to the shop and they tell me coil is ok, compressor is ok. They think it is electronic problem an dit cost $600-700. My car may cost about the same!
I push th selftest button. only LED position #4 flashes 10 times.
Could someone to advise what is the actual problem?
and what need to raplace and cost?
Thanks in advanced.

Duke

"only LED position #4 flashes 10 times" doesn't really make sense. Can you clarify?

First there is a typo . My car is 1994 E320.
I checked there is only one LED for selftest.
Push the button , the LED flahes 10 times.

Thanks

The built in pushbutton and LED is pin 3, diagnostic module, aka the DM. Code 10 is telling you to read the fault codes on the HFM which is pin 8. In order to read the codes on pin 8 you need to build the homemade flash code reader with parts from Radio Shack - lots of info in the archives.

I have 2 questions:
1) i push slftest button , it gives 10 flash and I look at Dm table. code 10 indicate AMF problem. Where do i find the instruction that say to read fault code on HFM?

2) I build a flash read code. But not sure what LED to use. It must be high current.
Do you know the part number for LED? Does it has limiting current resistor built in?

Thanks for your help

The LED is Radio Shack part number 276-270 - http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062568

Any resolution to this issue?

I'm having the same problem; Code 10 on the DM and engine shuddering. I cannot get the codes off the DM, built two radio shack readers, none will work.

This previous post consolidates links to resources for code listings, schematics and accumulated wisdom, much of it from discussions on the Peach Parts forum.

I could not get my reader read any code. But I found the problem due to the wire connecting spark plugs is bad. Assumming that the coil are good, after replacing spark plugs, check your core. You can use the ohmeter to beep it out for continuity. BUt i suggest to replace if they are old.
