How can I stop the chrome on door handle from further chipping

I just realized that something hit my door handle and caused the chrome coating to start chipping off the plastic underneath. I don want more of the coat to come off. Is there something I can apply to treat this?

No, you need to replace it.

Depending on the location you may be able to use zap-a-gap or super glue to apply a VERY SMALL amount around the chipped edge which will help protect the exposed edge and keep it from coming off any more. You may want to put some on a small piece of card and apply with a toothpick since the nozzles tend to force too much out.
