SLK320 STICKING ROOM - PULLING BUT NOT OPENING
New to the site.
I live in UK and have a RHD SLK320.
Roof sticks and needs a "bang" on the roof lining to open.
I have had a look at the micro switches (left and right) in the roof lining and they click, though not checked for electrical connectivity. I tested it and saw both switches make and break with the roof lining off.
The micro switch in the right hand side windscreen top right clicks but again not tested for electrical connectivity. Pushed it with a screwdriver with the roof open.
The micro switch in the boot liner also clicks...
The micro switch in the rear right clicks when the boot has opened fully and is at its extreme. All the switches seem to click.
The roof closes fine but just does not open. Only with a bang with the fist.
I have lubed the rubber seal on the windscreen top front.
Can i do anything else without taking it back to MB.
How can i test the switches electrically and how do i remove them easily ?
Is the bellows thing i have heard, inside the micro switch or the clear rubber outer cap ?
Do i need to lube and of the mechanical arms at all.
This is the sequence...
Windows come down
Roof lining micro switches unlatch
Boot opens backwards until the max
Microswitch in the rear of boot (under the brush strip) makes and clicks...
Thats it, motor keeps whining and roof does not open unless I bang it !
From inside you can see the roof try to pull away 1mm under strain but as you release the button, it moves back...
Any ideas, it's a 2000 model.
All the best
