Problem changing diesel injector washer .. please help!

Hi, I'm new to the forum so firstly , hi to everyone.
I have an e320 cdi 2001 and recently I noticed a diesel smell in the cabin. Upon investigation , I noticed some smoke coming out of the engine cover. After trawling the web and this site I have determine that I have a bad case of black death! I decided to replace the washer on the offending injector so bought the part today. I followed a guide from the web and all went well with removal and cleaning . The problem I have is tightening up the bolt that secures the clamp to the injector. It goes in a certain distance and tightens to a degree , then spins loosely again. Is it possible that there is gunk in there that needs removing or could it be thread damage? I did notice a small amount of thread at the bottom of the bolt when I removed it after the first attempt. If it's the thread, what does this mean in terms of repair and cost? If it's just gunk, how do I get it out? I thought about adapting the Hoover to suck it out or using wd40 to loosen it And then suck it out with the Hoover. Does anyone have Any ideas? This is so frustrating!!!!!!! Thanks. Ben

Sounds like stripped thread.
You can read about my struggle in repairing the thread in W211 section. Just do a search for "cdi injector seal"
cdi engines didn't make it to US in W210 bodies, but you will find info about them in W211 section.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

If the injector was well in place, run a tap thru the female thread making sure no burrs go inside the intake. Clean it well to make sure of it.

The thread would then be rebuilt and good to go.
