I am less than one month into my 1981 300SD turbo diesel.
My first diesel. The last couple of cars have all been Ford Galaxy 500s.
So, as you all can well understand, things have changed!
I love it already and have been getting it back into top shape.
My next project is my first somewhat more intricate than the others.
The rheostat is out. As are all the console lights, the a/c lights, and
the window control panel lights...these are all run through the rheostat dimmer, right?
Plus, from what I understand the incandescents are, even at full intensity, somewhat dim. So, I would like to switch out the instrument cluster bulbs with LEDs.
Which LEDs, specifically, should I replace them with? There are two, right?
I understand their reverse polarity and all that...but I have never bought LEDs at all, so tell me what's up!
Also, the tach doesn't work at all and the oil pressure gauge bounces. This is unrelated to the rheostat, I pretty certain. How can I fix them too?
Any replies, advice, and/or threads postings are much appreciated.
