The repair records before you buy the car are the property of the previous owner(s). I'd be surprised if MBUSA hasn't had a lawsuit or two about letting them go. The only way they would let them go is if they cleaned all the owner information off them which is work for them for nothing.
It may be after you buy the car MBUSA will give you the information, but they probably aren't going to do that just because you are thinking about buying the car.
CarFax usually has general maintenance information.
If the previous owner is providing them as a deal sweetener (I provide them to sell a car) that's one thing. There is where you should go. If you are buying from a dealer, tell him part of the deal is the VMI. He'll either go through what has to be done to get it or not. You got no leverage and you want information that doesn't belong to the seller.
