service A &B cost

I just bought a 07 Clk550. Car is very nice and I'm enjoying looking at it, (buried in almost 3 ft of snow in D.C. area). My question is concerning cost of the service. Dealer quoted me 300 for A, and 550 for B. After looking at most of the things done at the services, it appears to be a glorified oil change. Can anyone in the D.C. area recommend any other place other than dealerships who can perform these services without the costs associated with the dealer. Also, because my car is CPO for one year do I have to take my car back to the dealer to keep my warranty valid? Also, what are you all paying for these services. thanks

You dont need all the services, while my car was under the extended 4year, I had them do all the oil changes, and had them do the trans at 50K. At first they balked at resetting the FSS untill I spoke to the service manager. The synthetic Oil and fleece Filter goes for about $100, If they find something really serious they will let you know.
You can have the service done , keep your reciepts, I prefer to let them do the oil and filter, stay away from the "xpress" and cheapie joints.
My dealership does a while you wait!

How many miles are you going to drive in the 1 year period? There is up to 13,000 miles between A and B services on my car. I bought a CPO too but had a warranty for 2 years because I paid to extend it. I had my 60,000 B and 70,000 A done at the dealer as a cover my a$$ thing but as Peter stated, it's not required.

I'm planning on putting at least 10K a year. I just don't feel right about paying 300 bucks for an oil change. If it's the only way to keep my warranty then I'll have to bite the bullet. Can't wait until the snow melts before I can really enjoy it.

But the A and the B services need to be done IMO. There is a reason those things listed in those services need to be checked. Mercedes cars often don't seem to do well when maintenance is deferred. So, if you don't do them at your dealer, do them somewhere else, even if you do them yourself which you probably can easily do.

For example, this is why the flex disks are part of the checks.
