So, how are you driving it then, since I assume the belt can't move either what with the pump seized up?

Sometime, I have to reatrt the car, then it will let me drive for about a block than go bak to slipping again, as if it's in neutral. While it is in drive, it won't even let me down shift gears 3, 2, or 1.
It sounds like you might be in Limp-home mode, which can happen with repeated wheel spinning (ie, in snow) You only have 2nd gear and reverse. The ETC module (N15/3) does this to prevent damage to the automatic transmission. I have read that if you switch off ESP (maybe in the US you cannot do that) it will not go into Limp-home mode. MB can reset your codes and clear it for you. ESP was discussed recently here:

COULD BE ONE OF A FEW THINGS. ITS VERRY POSSIBLE YOU BURNT UP A BAND IN THE TRANS OR tCU IS DEFECTIVE. GET SOME LUCAS FOR THE TRANS AND POUR IT IN BE CAREFULL NOT TO BREAK THE TRANS DIPSTICK PLUG IT SAYS WORKSHOP ONLY ON IT YOU CAN GET IT OFF YOURSELF BUT YOU MAY HAVE TO BREAK THE TAB ON IT. IF THE CAR IS SHIFTING BETTER YOU BROKE A BAND IN THE TRANS IT WILL BE EXPENCIVE YOUR BEST BET IS TO GET A USED TRANS ON EBAY ONES FROM MERCEDES WILL BE AROUND 5000
