Exclamation Oh crap, what did I do? Reset Service Indicator...

Hey all...

So, I am bringing my car to Mercedes for them to look at my sunroof on Monday and my service B light is exceeded past 10 days. I got it checked out elsewhere and did an oil change as well. But I haven't been able to reset it. So I tried to just now and I did everything I saw in this breakdown...

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/eu...03_and_209.pdf

Didn't work...I need pictures to know I am doing it right

But here is something that I saw before "Settings....To reset press reset button for 3 seconds", so I did and then this came up "Settings....Reset to factory settings? To confirm press reset button". I chickened out and didn't want to press that.

What does it mean by reset to factory settings?
Does anyone know how to reset on a CLK 350?

And right before I stepped out of my car I saw this but it said 626.6 MI. I pressed the reset button and now it says 0.0 MI, what did I do? (refer to link below)

I don't know about the service due reminder but as to your last question you just re-set the trip odometer. I do that on purpose everytime I fill up. Try asking on the proper CLK (W209) forum.

Oh, I see. So resetting the trip odometer is no big deal?

I will look into that forum...looking for it now.

Right, no big deal. There should be another screen for miles driven since last service reminder reset and I choose to leave that as is. The W209 forum is under the coupé and cabriolet section.

A couple other things I neglected to mention. Several people have had trouble re-setting the service reminder (FSS on my car, don't know if MB still calls it that). Most often a couple more tries will get it to take. The link you posted for the instructions on justanswer seem to be right out of the owner's manual. If you don't have one you should order a copy from MBUSA. You car is new enough that it should be no problem getting one.

I actually have the CLK manual, and did refer to that first but it does not tell me how. It just says to ask Mercedes Dealership to do it.

I feel like a turtle dude ...like why am I not getting these a b c directions?

OK, sorry my bad. Since you mentioned it I'm not sure my manual tells me either. But that link sure looked like it came from the manual.

Manual is always the best way to find how to reset FSS.
The system change every couple of years so there is lot of variations and sometimes small difference like waiting few seconds for the car to go to sleep mode make a difference between success and failure.

That link I found some where on this forum because it is not in my book at all. Weird.

I have been able to find answers to all my question by using the manual that came with my vehicle, but in regards to reseting it tells me to go to Mercedes for them to do it.
