What's wrong with my alloy wheel?

So recently, one of my back rims developed a really funny streak. They are original AMG Alloy wheels that came with the car. It happened basically overnight and not over time.

It looks like some type of streak - it was raining, and was also freezing...is it possible the water froze and ripped the coat off? They look like streaks on the rim.

It's a little bit dirty from brake dust and it wasn't washed when I took the picture, but the important part are those streaks. They aren't really deep, and it's hard to feel them.

How do I fix this? Is there any product that can take them out, or do I need to do something else like repaint or something like that?

This is result of use of acid cleaners without rinsing the wheel properly.
Here are the pictures I took of my wheels. I was fortunate it was only inside.
Get a good non-acid cleaner and a jar of elbow grease.

I did also take it to a car wash around the same time, is it possible they used some acid cleaner and it wasn't rinsed off enough?

So a good non-acid cleaner should help remove those streaks?

Even without a cleaner that stuff will come off eventually. The wheel on my picture was solid, shiny black inside before and I only used plain water with aggressive floor brush
Than occasionally I am using Simple Green formula for wheels.
Good luck and lot of ice for elbows

When you clean the wheel, does it come off? If not, it looks like acid damage. You may need to have the wheel refinished or replaced.

I think the stain had been on there a while before it got dark enough for you to notice it. I don't think it will clean or poilsh off. Take it to a good detail or body shop and ask them to rub on a spot and give you their opinion. I have been in the auto body business since 1977.

Yeah, it won't come off easily..maybe the only option will be to repaint or polish it.

When you take the car to "professionals" - they will spray acid cleaner on the wheel.
Show me a service that wants to do the job the hard way?
Even if the stain will not come off with brush and mild cleaner -it will bleach out over the time with UV exposure.
MB wheel paint is very tough. I've been using barbecue metal brush on older wheels with good results.

Thanks, any particular cleaner you'd recommend? Non-acid right?
