Melted Turn signal housing.

Hello, I needed to replace a turn signal bulb in my 2005 E-500, and when I went to pull the socket I saw that the bulb was shattered inside of the headlight housing. Upon further inspection it seems that the turn signal bulb actually melted the housing that it sits in. I looked at the other side and that too is melted around the bulb. When that bulb burns out I have no idea how I am going to get it out of the housing. I cant get a new bulb in the one that is already shattered because it melted an disfigured the housing. Has anyone else had this problem before? I cant believe there isn't a recall on this matter that I know of. HELP!!! Thanks

Just get new bulb holders. They're not expensive.

Might want to post/search in the W211 section to learn whether this regularly occurs. (I think not.)

If it happened under warranty, it would be covered.

Recalls are for safety and emissions questions only, and as noted your situation is not particularly frequently occurring.

on the left side you can see the melted plastic where it formed around the bulb. I know if that one goes out it will have to be yanked out with plyers or something.
