C230 Kompressor Sport 2000
Hi there, Have some issues with the old car, I love my car, and really don't want to trade it. The first symptom was a hestitation issue when accelerating, as soon as the RPM hit 3500, there would be a drop in power, I release the accelerator slightly and depress it again, and then a sudden return of power. So I check my Haynes manual and resolved the issue. Which was the little air pressure hose on top of the engine, it connects to a spiral plastic gizmoe of some sort( not shown in the haynes manual), and a second hose which connects from the side of the gizmoe to the bottom of the air filter box. I checked all the pipes and temporarily re-sealed them with insulation tape to see if the problem was there before replacing the hoses(yet to do). The hestitation issue is solved, but I believe it is a symptom and not the problem itself. When I opened the Spark plug cover, I found oil inside the area around the 2 and 3 spark plugs. I also found oil inside the the air pipes and some oil on the air filter itself ( which I clean out with some gas). I also noticed that if I rev the old car over 3500 in normal driving conditions the engine seems to vibrate more than I am used to. I can feel it on the steering colomn.
Does anyone here have any advice, money saving tips before I break the bank and send it in?
