Cleaned MAF still problem

Hello all, thanks to one of you guys in the forum i was able to find the MAF...I cleaned the MAF wgich had very little oil on it but lots of sand on it and the tubes. Problem is, i cleaned everywhere i could think of where air could come through all the way from the air filter to the aftercooler but when i start it even after disconnecting the battery..my CEL goes off but as soon as i put it in drive it starts to act like its choking and gonna clunk out again. so at this point i dont know what to do. most of the stuff in the engine looks all brand new. there are no leaks of any type..i have tried fuel cleaner..new air filter but not a new MAF. That may be what I need. I have not had my codes read as i am aware that advanced autos doesnt do mercedes....right? Could it be the fuel filter or something else. just wondering if anyone can help thanks!!!!

If you had sand and oil on MAF, I wonder how the rest of the engine interiors look like?
Who does your air filter service? Fire him IMMEDIATELY.
Coming to MAFs -I tried to clean 3 of them with 0 success ratio and others were only slightly better.
Get new MAF sensor (and new air filter) and report back.

not that dirty

there was slight sand on the MAF but more in the hose under the MAF housing. Finally got the codes read....says i have a misfire on cylinder 2 and i took out the spark plugs and yikes!!!! They were pretty bad especially the second one. So I ordered some NGK ones which will be here in the a.m. so thats good. i am going to switch the coil packs 2 and 4 around after i change the spark plugs and have the codes read again and if it misfires on 4 even with new spark plugs then its my coil of which i have no idea where to buy a new coil pack. but by the way, the engine is very clean but where i park at the hospital for work...theres alot of sand that whips up here in florida lol

So why were you cleaning the MAF to start with?

One way to keep chasing problems is to guess instead of diagnose.

Another is to change and swap parts all at once.

Start with basics. Work on what you know is an issue. Follow normal diagnostic steps. Otherwise consign yousrelf to compounding your problems, increasing your costs and delaying the resolution of the issues.

BTW, you are more likely to get meaingful assistance if you leave the general forum and post in the forum that is specific to your model, scroll down the main page and you'll find it.

That is a good theory, but we both know Greg, that W210 owners are leading on this forum
More than once we have seen member in other sections making topics for no replies.
