Electric (one man, one armature) wouldn't be that big a shift at AMG, being torque fans, so to speak. AMG's chief has also recently mentioned several other plans, including an AMG version of the new C-Class coupe; a RWD version of the new 2011 A/B Class platform being brought to the US. That last one would be interesting, since the plan is to take the FWD chassis and rework it to RWD, but then it would likely involve a smaller AMG powerplant. Perhaps a four cylinder turbo?

Hopefully the all electric 2013 AMG SLS will have improved instrument pixels brake light switch, blower regulators, window regulators, and tail light bulb sockets.

Have to agree with j99xj......novelty items all. An all electric city car makes some sense...but at what price and where's the infrastructure? Here in Chicago we can't even get our parking meters to work....let alone recharging stations.

Locomotives have electric motors more for the energy transfer than economy. Can you imagine transfer cases and transmission for 20 drive wheels?
Electric cars have been on the roads of about 100 years, so if they would offer real advantage it would show by now.
Times are changing and with better and better batteries and more expensive oil the calculation can change.
Passenger car hybrids are a lie IMHO. Whatever the electric system will help in city driving it will be eaten on the highway when all of it become dead weight. Not to mention that the end of batteries life will most likely end car life as well.
The only hybrid that really make sense to me is the one used in city buses. Those have constant stop and go where gas pedal is used basically in 2 positions. Combustion engines don't like that kind of operation, so solution was putting small diesel engine powering generator at constant, the most economical rpm.
The generator charges batteries who power motors hidden inside the wheels.
With small engine there is no big hump on bus floor while small batteries can be packed in small spaces allowing for lower floor.
Not only fuel efficient but also space efficient.
