It's 50k miles or more.
What do you guys think of buying a MB with that many miles, especially regarding maintenance costs and all that stuff. I'd never consider buying an American car with that kind of mileage because I can imagine me having to do a ton of repairs, however, MB should have better "lasting" power right?
Anyway, what's your guy's take on getting a 2005 E320 for around 20 grand or so?
And how should I go about bartering for it? I will be paying up front in cash, should I mention that? And what price point should I aim for so as not to be too unreasonable (I.E say I will only pay 17k and try to shoot for 18.5k or so?)
Never bought a car before.
First, glad your not trying to feed your ego, it's expensive, very good choice.
2nd, 50K or even 100K miles is nothing for virtually every brand car out there today, foreign or domestic.
3rd. I may get flamed for this, while I dearly love my mercedes, it's the overall handling, ride, features, safety etc. that we like. Reliability is not it's strong point, in fact it's the achilles heal. I bought it used from my brother, between the two of us, it really has been mediocre and well below average for my vehicles at best for reliability. It's only as a strong DIY that I keep it, otherwise it would go. Dealer repairs are outrageous, A good INDY is reasonable. (brother also has another newer (2003??) mercedes, it hasn't turned out to be any more reliable either)
My last 4 domestic cars and trucks have been far more reliable than the benz. (Not near as enjoyable and fun to drive, but definitely more trouble free)
