2005 ML500 AWD

Before I purchased my ML500, I was told it was all wheel drive. I have not been able to confirm that. Can anyone answer this question?

I'm not aware of any 2wd ML class being available prior to the 2010 model year.

Thanks for your reply. Again, it doesn't specifically state 4wd or awd. Just wanted to verify.

What is a big deal to turn the steering wheels to the end and take a look if you see CV joints on them?
To my knowledge MB never offered 4WD on US market. Might be some military vehicles, but those were not sold here.
New ML models have badge 4-Matic what is MB name for AWD

If you don't have one, your dealer can get you and owners manual.

Answer to this question is within.

All W163's and W463's in the US are considered "Permanent 4WD". Which means it has full time four wheel drive with a switch for a low-range. All wheel drive is basically the same thing just with no low-range.

W164's and W251 (plus the various passenger-cars) have All wheel drive (4MATIC) with a VERY small amount of GL's (X164) being offered with an "off-road" package which gave it a low-range. There were no 2wd SUV's available till I believe 2009 or 2010 model year in the ML and R.
