Buying a Benz - advice, please
First off, I would like to salute everyone, I'm new to the forums, and would like to seek some advice from you MB experienced people.
I'm a young lad searching to buy my first car, and thus my first Mercedes. I've been searching and reading and documenting myself, converging to the conclusion that a 2004 C180 Sport Coupe, automatic, petrol, with leather and alloys is just the car for me. I find that MB's refinement, elegance and robustness goes well with my persona; I've yet to drive one though (getting my license this month). To get straight to the point: Through my Internet and (limited) owner researching, I've heard quite a few complaints from people, that there are repeated problems with the emergency/parking foot brake (failures, faulty operating, stopping inefficiency, multiple repairs, etc.). I don't really understand the whole FOOT p/e brake philosophy, as I find the standard (european) hand operated ones to be much more practical and reliable. What is your knowledge of this issue? Also, that the indicator stalk is quite awkward to use (maybe this is a subjective matter). Are there any other reoccurring problems I should look out for when buying this secondhand model? How are the maintenance and repair costs (compared to let's say.... a 2009 VW SUV)?
Thank you in advance and I'll be waiting for your replies!
