Sagging Headliner

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum. I decided to join because I love all things Merc.

My car is a W123 originally with the OM616 which I upgraded to the OM617 (non-turbo) and it now runs beautifully with just a couple of glitches.

The headliner is sagging at the rear because it seems the thin support wire came out of position. I know there must be many threads on this and I don't mind searching previous threads before bothering members.

The second issue is a little more mysterious. Since changing the engine, it runs well 90% of the time with the temp between 80C and 100C. If I drive at over about 120kph sustained, the temp heads towards the red. The same thing happens with long hills. Also the temp gauge seems to flicker without any sort of pattern when hot.

The radiator is the original 616 unit as is the mechanical fan. Any ideas? The engine has no coolant leaks.

Joe

Thanks for the useful direction leapyfish. I am now going through the discussions and believe this is where I need to focus.
