mercedes 36 amg cars

hello everybody, im pretty new to writing a thread here. its taken this long to sus out how to do it! i posted replys on the back of other peoples threads for the last year or so but didnt know how to write one myself. finally got round to doing it

my introduction is i own a mercedes w210 E36 AMG and a C36 AMG and did have a C280 sport w202 but that is being broken now.

the c36 is in bad need of servcing, and i could do with some help on what exactly is wrong with my gearbox. the last 15k miles it has slipped between 2nd & 3rd and 3rd and 4th gears, revs up like a false neutral, take my foot off and then it changed gear. the reverse was like stuck in park, put my foot on the pedal and it jerks backwards. then all of a sudden 2nd and 3rd gears dissapeared completly!

bought a 2nd hand c36 gearbox, changed it and it changed gears too early like 3k revs. thought the gearing was all wrong. within a few days the same thing happened again. slips with 3rd and 4th and the reverse is jerky! just like the clutch has gone on a manual car. its 95 model m104 engine so all electrics are up the ding! i have my c280 m104 96 car which has all the upgraded wiring which i can swap over any bit but some wiring connectors are different, so might end up swaping the lot over

so now i have 2 gearboxes and the same problem! my mechanic friend says its the torque converter has gone. now im thinking of buying another 2nd hand gearbox, 722.328 boxes! got my eye on one at the mo! but dont know if it is something else that is causing the problem. i have disconected the vacuume line and it is still the same. so no modulator problem!

any ideas anyone? i would be very much appreciated of anyones oppinion.

love these 36 cars when the work.
