Post 1999 CLK320...would you?

Morning, afternoon and evening everyone!

I'm looking at this car here:

Mercedes-Benz CLK320 1999 for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand

The guy has dropped the price a fair way and has agreed to include an AA inspection.....would you?

The Dog & Lemon guide is critical to say the least of the CLK's....but it's so beautiful!

Please...let me know what you would do? Especially if you've had one...

Thank you - I appreciate any and all help.

I have a 2000 430 CLK vert. After owning the car for more than 2 years I still get a smile on my face every time I fire it up.

Because we get so much snow and ice here in the winter the vert is under its cover in the garage fo the next 4 months. I can't wait for spring.

Go for the CLK. I think they represent one of the best, if not the best, illustration of Mercedes styling in the last 20 years.

If the CLK follows the E-Class, there was a facelift in 2000 so I would look at one a year newer to compare with the 1999.

Not trying to tease MM, but "Buy new" is not really advise
That is in NZ right?
Price would be high for US market, but really looks like lovely car.
Radio doesn't look original?
Having long legs I am not comfortable in C and even older E didn't work for me. Having the time take the car for extended test drive.
My favorite monoblocks BTW

Kajtek1, I didn't exactly tell him to buy a newer car. What I was getting at are the steering wheel controls that come with the 2000-2002 E-Class. As we both know, the W208 and W210 have a few similarilties. But I don't know about what was selling in New Zealand.

Thank you all for your advice.

This is my budget maxed...doesn't sound a lot this is meant to be my 'run around' that gets me to work. Surely a boy deserves some luxury?

I'm getting an AA report back this morning so that will have a huge bearing.... watch this space.

Kajtec. It is NZ new, which according to Kiwi's is a really good thing. For one, you can be certain of an honest odometer.

The guy said that he replaced the stereo as the old tape one packed up. To be fair he's fitted the new one and it looks very good. Most importantly it now accepts an ipod.

Musikmann, I'd love to look newer...in fact I pulled up alongside a guy in a 2005 CLK yesterday...was beautiful. Unless I sell one of the children it's not likely. I appreciate your advice though. Thanks.

Happyhammer1975,

A 2005 is a W209 anyway, pretty different. A neighbor of mine has a 2003+ CLK55 AMG and I really like that body style. For a W208 one year newer might not cost any more depending on options and/or mileage. I just thought once you compared a 1999 with a 2000-2002 you might like the newer one better. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I agree about looking for a newer one. I've got a 2000 MY CLK 320 and I think the face lift makes a difference. No 320 looks as good as a 430 but that is another subject.
