I drive a pickup weighing in at 7000 lbs on snow and ice, rarely putting it into 4wd. so I guess if a 4000lb car is dangerous what am I suicidal??
Seriously I have a E420, which my wife and I drive quite nicely in ice an snow with blizzaks in the winter. And Portland Ice storms can leave a road worse than anything I drove on growing up in Montana and ND. Granted she and I grew up driving RWD cars on snow and ice, but with traction control Blizzaks and using W (wife) mode instead of S (spouse) mode you can get moving under pretty bad conditions and with Blizzaks stop and turn well also. We have both passed many FWD and AWD cars stuck or spinning out. My Bro had the car before me and in 10 years in spokane, never had a problem with the 420 with winter tires on it.
It is a good idea to have Bilzzaks mounted on another set of wheels, they wear out pretty quick. Go with them ALL the way around, she needs to stop and steer once she gets moving.
A foot of snow, stay at home, the 430 will get high centered. that's the biggest thing I worry about, the mercedes has less clearance than many cars I've owned.
