E270 Performance Issues
Just joined this forum as I am having problems with my E270 (2004), which I purchased only a month ago.
The car performance was fantastic when I first drove it, and you really noticed the low down pulling power and knew when the turbo kicked in. However, the power has sinced dropped off and I have had the following issues.
Firstly the engine warning light appeared and the car went into 'limp home' mode. I followed a few blogs and performed an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins. This clearred the warning light and all was OK until this week.
The performance of the car was exceptional and was accelerating in 2nd gear at a good rate when the warning light appeared again and the car went into limp mode again. This time the EC reset did not work and I had to visit MB who checked the car. They clearred the error code and said it was due to a dirty contact on the 'Quantity Valve'. They also mentioned the pressure in the rail was too high at one time.
Anyway, car is working again, but the power is no longer there. Whenever I push the accelerator, the car prefers to drop down gears rather than providing that wonderful low down pulling power. Seems the torque has gone and feels as if the Turbo is turned off.
Any ideas? Has the engine got clogged due to driving the car in limp mode for 50 miles?
