Unhappy Door Lock Pump/Door Close Pump Failure

I've put if off for long enough. I have a 1993 300SE i've owned since new, paid 70 plus thousand for it and do not want to give it up for pennies on the dollar. My door closing pump and my door lock pump have been out of service for too long. I've decided to fix the problem myself and did'nt want to pay the dealer thousands for this. My door locks don't work automatically and my doors don't suck in tight like the did. For starters I replaced the door lock pump under the seat thinking this will cure half my problem. I picked up the pump at a junkyard for $200 (numbers match exactly) a 140 800 0448. Plugged in the unit and all I hear is a very quiet air hissing sound coming from it when I unplug the 15 hoses. At first I heard nothing and thought I bought a bogus pump. Does this sound like a properly working pump? Does this thing produce vacuum or create pressure? Do my door locks need vacuum and pressure to work? My door locks still don't work. Just a big nothing but a slight hissing from the pump. Do I still need to replace the pump in the trunk to get it working? At first my doors stopped sucking tight but my door locks still worked. Now I have nothing.

Dunno what you have going on, but we have brand new door lock pumps (the one under the rear seat) for $375. The pump in the trunk is for sucking the doors shut, while the one under the seat does everything else.

Sounds like the junk yard pump is barely working and not producing the vacuum/pressure you need (yes they do both). I'd try to return it and buy the one from

Good luck.
