Chrysler extended warranty--it paid !
I like many searched this site for feedback on experiences for those who had purchased extended warranties. I purchased a 2005 S600 in summer of 2008 which had about 2 months left of a factory warranty. I research long the extended options. At the time, there was much turmoil in whether Mercedes would sell an extended warranty under the circumstances. First being told no, then at the last minute after having purchased a Chrysler warranty, Mercedes changed their policy to permit a mercedes extended warranty.
Long story short, I finally purchased a 7 year/ 85000 mile max warranty by Chrysler. I purchased it from a dodge dealer that I believe was located in Ohio and sold on the internet. I paid about 2/3 of the price the local mercedes dealer offered after days of negotiation on their own aftermarket warranty from a Ford affiliate.
The pricing on these things is very negotiable. Except the internet price I was offered was the lowest and amounted to extension of about 3 years.
Well after nervously watching Chrysler go through bankruptcy and wondering what would really happen when claim day came, I can report Chrysler came through like champs. I had to replace lines and a pump in the Active Body Control on this car which was a $4100 repair. Chrysler paid all but the $100 deductible. The local service manager told me he is use to having to fight with extended service companies on price and repair. He told me when I picked up my car, that this Chrysler warranty claim was the best experience he has ever had on extended warranties !
Just thought the group should have this info from my experience and relief.
