Yes, Musikmann, the bulletin was published on a couple of threads until a few months back. I cannot remember the cut out date but it was some time around cars made by June 2008. It read that cars with excessive brake dust were had to have the pads replaced with the new pads spec'd on the bulletin at MB's expense if the car had less than 12K miles. It should probably be in the W203 forum, or maybe this one... I cannot remember.

The warranty terms are fuzzy in my mind, but anyway it's now over. Nevertheless, the pads to be used for brakes at dealerships should be the new ones. Best thing would be to have the part number of the replacement pads, but I did no write it up.

Excuse me but the bulletin did not interest me for other than info since here, in Argentina, the only recognized complaint is the one made with a 12 gauge Ithaca, or similar. MB is very supportive of the dealers, because they need them more than the customers, and the dealers are NDG for anything that does not turn them a buck.

Cheers, JV
I found that the dealer had very competitve prices in regards to pads and discs (from the parts department. I don't know if the service dept has the same prices). They weren't any/much more expensive than the online parts stores I checked; 9 times out of 10 I don't get correct parts from online sources so having piece of mind with a dealer was worthwhile.

Also, the OEM pads for my w203 were made by Jurid. They came in the neat MB boxes with holograms, 3-pointed star, etc. , but were definitely mfg'd by Jurid. I think they cost $1 more per set than autohausaz or peachparts. I only mention it in case someone finds Jurid pads for considerably less than OEM, etc.

Did you guys confirm that it would be about $400 from the dealer for front pads? (obviously more with rotors) The reason I ask is because I can either get them changed at the dealer tomorrow afternoon or wait a week for my indy to order them. I want to know if the indy's advantage in price is worth the wait. (pad wear sensor has been flaring up on my dash for about two weeks now)

2 weeks means 20, or 20,000 miles?
MB makes pretty early warnings and average driver can still make 1000 miles on the remaining pads before they come down to metal.
Why pay lot more at dealer?

Well its been about 500 miles I would say. The only reason I would go to the dealer is so I wont have to sit their while the guy does the brakes (they give me a loaner). With regards to price tho, going to the dealer makes no sense at all. I appreciate everyone's help and input. Indy it is
