Question W126 Question

Okay, have a quick question for all you MB people! I have read/heard from several sources that the w126 is one of the most reliable Benzs. That is what I'm looking for- reliability- but, within the types/years of w126s, which are the best and why?
Thanks all,
Moe

You're moving your w126 question to the w124 section? Good luck.

You started right and than it went down the drain.
W126 is way more reliable than W124
Way more comfortable as well.

Really?? Oh...
Does the w124s better gas mileage/handling/quickness outweigh the difference in reliability? If not, which 126s would you recommend?
Thanks,
Moe

Just about any w126 will take care of you, if it has been taken care of. Personally I like the 300SE/SEL since the timing chain and top end tend to need attention every 200K instead of every 100K like the bigger engine w126's.

If those are yours priorities, you should go for W211.
Any diesel will drive you into your retirement, or will drive your newborn baby into the college.
If you can keep the car cosmetically intact for 40 years.
Point is that newer diesel will cost you over 20 grands, while older can be bought for 5.
Besides newer car, newer engines provide much more.
For comparison 300td in W126 offers 112 HP and about 25 mpg, while 320cdi in E offers 201 HP and 35 mpg. Any engine between is step up.
