Howdy from one of the worlds oldest rookies.

Hi Guys.

Just purchased a base GLK RWD with metallic paint and an iPod adapter as the only extras.
My first Benz.
At age 71.

Am just amazed at the way this entry level Benz rides. I was looking for a nice compact CUV and test drove the Mazda CX7 , the VW Tiguan, and the Acura RDX. The CX 7 was "fun" but had no refinement, the VW was really nice, but seemed just a bit too small, and the RDX, while a value leader, just didn't have the build quality and the ride of the GLK.
And RWD and a naturally aspirated motor all combined to make it a winner.

Don't know if I did the right thing...... The RDX was loaded and the GLK is not......but that vault like door sound, the ride, and the quality is what won me over.

Just had a universal Homelink put in the car. And dedicated an iPod nano to the glove compartment.

We will use this car as our Grocery getter/errand/lunches/short trip vehicle.
By short trip I mean about 300 miles round trip.
We go from our home here in N Ft Myers to Ft Lauderdale several times a year.
The long trips (From FL to OK and FL to PA, annually) and more formal occasions (Dinner, etc) will still be done in our Cadillac DTS. The Cadillac doesn't do a lot real great, but it does cruise very, very comfortably at 75 all day.

I am still Flabbergasted to see MB sell this car for this price.
I paid 34,400 +TTL for this car.

We traded our 2003 Murano for this car.
The Murano was a pretty good car but Nissan was not good to deal with.
Frankly if Cadillac had put the 3.6 DI engine in the new SRX (instead of the 3.0) we might have gone that way...because dealing with Caddy is very nice.

So far so good with MB.......
The sales experience was painless and professional.
