How do i replace window switch on 89 300E

I have a physically broken driver side window switch. How do I open the console to get at it?? Also, the window is 2/3 down, is there a way to bypass the switch to get it raised in the interim?
Thanks very much,
Jerry

That's a better question for the model-specific W124 forum. Scroll down from this general forum and have a look in the sedans section. Good luck.

Did you get an answer to your question? Just asking because I need to do the same thing with an 89 300TE wagon and all the window switches are in the center console. I don't know how to remove what is needed from center console yet.

Thanks
Steve

Wow- that was a year and a half ago, and I'm not sure I recall all the details, but yes, it was easy to replace or swap. You pull out the little rug in the compartment behind the console and there is a screw to be removed. The switch is plugged into a socket with all the wires. Look at a used one for sale on ebay to see what it looks like unplugged. I hope this helps.
Good Luck

So there is no need to pull out the ash tray too?

Thanks

I don't recall exactly, but I may have loosened the front ashtry screws and just tilted it up from the back. There are lots of wires attached to the 4 switches etc, that will not allow you to raise it up very far.
