Hi. I have a rusty Vito.

Hello all. Just bought myself a rusty 2001 Vito 112cdi. 75000 miles, mechanically sound and goes like a scalded cat. I love it and have a feeling this site will prove to be very handy in the future. I can't imagine how it's got so rusty in 8 years, maybe it was used as an anchor for a while? Hope to address it before too long, but wondering whether or not it's going to be worth it. Anyone else had any success in treating the rust on these vans? No particular problem area, it's confined to every panel!!!

Yes, agreed, after closer inspection, I quite like the spreading rust. It gives the van a new appearance every week. I've decided that I'll just drive it until it falls to pieces around me. Having read through loads of forum posts, it seems to suffer from most of the typical Vito traits; bodywork, thermostat, failing dashboard illumination, a service light that won't/ I can't reset, but despite these faults I really like the van. Bought cheap, so I'll do what I can myself to keep it on the road and have already got lots of useful tips from this site.
