Spilled water and electrical problems

While on a camping trip in our 2002 E320 wagon, my wife spilled a gallon of water on the passenger side front seat. We got it up fairly quickly, but of course could not get it all. It has been a year almost and the overhead lights come on and off at will and the door locks and unlocks on it's own. It usually happened in left turns primarly, but not it's almost anytime while moving.

Where to start looking for a soution?

Why did you wait a YEAR to address this issue? You should have been on top of drying the interior as soon as possible. Now you are looking a wild parts chase.

I'd begin by removing the seat and the carpet underneath. Then look at all the wires and connections. This will give you access to dry any remaining water and just have a good look around.

Also, you have what Mercedes calls a W210 and we have a forum devoted to this chassis. Look for us under the sedans heading, scrolling down from here. There are a number of videos in the stickys and there might be one for removing the passenger seat.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.
