You should see the broken dipstick after removing the pan.
I recall seeing the tube hole in front of the exposed part on my E. Than I am afraid that the dowel might break in the "S" curve before reaching the pan. This way, or the other you should be able to push it out from the bottom.
Should'a read my topics about using 1/8" steel cable for a dipstick.
