Hi From Seattle
I have a 2002 CLK 430 Cabrio. I got the car with 30,000 on it for about 28K 3 years ago. I've been doing work on it myself since the dealer prices are riducolus.
Other than standard maintence, I needed to replace the windows regulator. I replaced the pads and rotors with some after market high performance brakes. I have a neighbor who is an incredible mechanic. I like paying him instead of the rip-off cars shops out there.
I did a little body work, a friend parked the car over one of those concrete park stops and it ripped the underside out. Other than that, a few scratches
Currently, I have some repairs to do which is why I joined the forum. The shifter assembly needs to be replaced because the interlock is not working. I searched all over the forum, I tried changing the brake switch, that wasn't it.I also need to replace the motor mounts which I also found on the forum -- thanks -- one is cracked. Need to change the tranny fluid.
Can you believe the wanted to charge me 3K for all of this. 1500 for the parts. I got all the parts online for half that price.
I likely need new rims in the front. One of them has cracked on the inside lip
They are so expensive ... Chrome 17" 7.5 -- so I'm trying to see if it would be better to weld. I've already welded it once. If someone has advice on that, it would be great.
I'm trying to learn how to navigate the site. Often I can't find the DIY -- so any tips would be great!
