Michigan Bluetec Owner (high milage)
Just wanted to introduce myself: I am a proud owner of a 2008 E320 Bluetec, Michigan registered traveling an average of 1200 miles per week. Just comming up on 60,000 miles on a new set of tires next week. This is definately my dream car and I love it! Drives and handles fabulously!
The original Michelins wore out and became very noicy around 45,000 miles; should have rotated them more often I guess. I am trying some Cooper tires but they may be too soft in the sides, the gokart feel is not there on these tires - very quiet and comfortable and sticky though, might keep them for the Michigan winter driving.
I get an average of 32.8 mpg in mixed driving and often see numbers well over 35 mpg on highway travel - sometimes up close to 38 mpg but I really have to work to get that.
Love the car!
Only complaint would be the MB service which is expensive and leaves you wondering what the heck they did for the money; I think the receipt says something like "MB Minimum Service $180" and then they add the oil change after that. The $350 they charged me to replace a $35 fuel filter every 20000 miles is also hard to be happy about. Does anyone know how hard that is to replace? Can I get my brother to do it?
