4-matic?

How does the M-B 4wd system work?
Is it reliable?
Is it a full time 4wd?

Yes they are full-time 4WD but that's the extent of my knowledge.

I see you are in Sweden so a 4matic would certainly make sense. From what I've read the new systems are very reliable but the older ones are not. Since this system comes on so many chassis, narrow down the car(s) at which you are looking and then ask on those model-specific forums.

It was the W124 that had part time 4-Matic with clutches loving to fail.
The W210 is AWD and is very reliable system, although front CV joints seems to be weaker point.

Aha, thank you Kajtek1. I didn't know the W124 was part-time but those were the beasts I was thinking of when mentioning unreliability.

Thanks guys, it was the w210 I was thinking of. Or a w202 but I've never seen a 4wd baby benz...

I'd like a 6-cyl CDI and 4-matic

Make it wagon and you have my dream vehicle.
You can find those in Europe, while I have to keep on dreaming.

W210 is a good choice I think. Good luck finding a nice one.
