How do I open trunk on '01 S500 with battery disconnected?

Help- I disconnected the battery to do body work on the doors (rust) assuming there was a mechanical method (key) to re-open trunk lid like on my E320. NOT! Tried the push button in the license plate opening with the key to no avail. Whats the trick?

In the engine compartment there is a pos and neg terminal, connect a battery to these with jumper leads.

The trunk can be opened with the mechanical key, assuming your lock works.

"To unlock and open the trunk lid, turn mechanical key to position1, hold and push to open."

Hey, Diesel Benz, pics of the Positive and neg connectors? I am at home now and no access to WIS.

So this was a W220, I cannot find jump start poles from the engine bay, the W210 would have had those. Of course I may have missed the info.

Can you tell me where the main pos cable terminates in the vehicle? Is it at the starter or some other point? My idea would be to disconnect the main power cable at that point and connect a power source there to energize the system.

The power point connector is about 3/4 of an inch tall, nut and as you face the engine the point is rear left and usually has a red plastic cover with a + on it, but if you cannot find this, then go under the car, rear of engine, passengers side and follow the starter lead from the starter to the fire wall and you can connect pos to that point.
