80's mercedes questions

Hello, i used to own a 85 Mercedes 300D about a year ago until i wrecked it . Now it comes time to find me another one, nothing seems to fill that gap. What i want is a 5 cyl because the 6's i have heard to many stories about. So to the question did they even make a 5 cyl with ABS?

And is it just the older 6 cyl that was rod throwers or all? I did find a nice 97 SDL, but again the 6cyl make me unconfortable.

Yes, the 92ish 300D 2.5.

No ABS in 5-Cylinder diesels from the 80's though...
