Post The Adams Family and our Mercedes

We've got a '99 ML320 that we purchased for US$14k in 2006. It was my wife's dream car, and we figured if we were going to by a new car for that much we would rather buy a used Mercedes instead. Dark Grey with 75k at purchase, we've taken it everywhere and beat the crap out of it. It had the third row of seats, which we removed to make room for our dogs, goats, hay bales, etc. and the seats have been in our garage ever since. The dogs chewed the seat belts up, so now we can't use the third row safely anyway. (there's $1400 we're not excited to spend to have them replaced...) My wife added some nice scratches down the side from getting a little to close to our mailbox and not thinking through how to move away without causing more damage... The sunroof's wind deflector got caught in the sunroof somehow and got mangled. The engine cover won't stay in place and has been discarded. We've replaced the power steering line that blew, had a mechanic weld the faulty catylitic converters back together, replaced the crankshaft position sensor, replaced the window control switch when the locking tabs in the console broke (it's now being held in place by the dog's tennis ball which is wedged firmly underneath it. We'll call that compensation for chewing the seat belts...) and several oil changes, etc.

We've treated this luxury SUV like a work truck on our farm, used it for several hunting and camping excursions, packed construction tools and materials, as well as day to day trips of about 100 miles a day. And it never fails to perform for us. We love it. Kudos to solid German engineering.
