Replace COMAND Center w/ aftermarket NAV?!?

Hello all -
I just purchased a 2005 SL500 and did, as members suggested, purchase the extended warranty through the Ziegler Automotive Group.
I've been reading numerous postings this weekend related to how one enables:
- DVD video functionality
- Bluetooth for cellphones
- IPOD connectivity
- XM or Sirius radio
- Reverse Camera
- etc.
To be honest, I'm a bit surprised that each of these (with the exception of the DVD functionality because that can't be enabled) requires what I would consider to be a decent investment (time / money) in selecting, sourcing, wiring, and possible system configurations to implement.
Has anyone thought of purchasing something like an AVIC Z110BT or other aftermarket NAV/Receiver that has nearly all of this 2009 functionality built in?
I realize one would lose the "stock" aspect, and enjoy car projects as much as the next person, but... what else would I be losing. Thinking probably some handsfree / steering controls as well...

I love the car, absolutely amazing to drive, just a bit disappointing in terms of creature comforts I've had or were nearly plug & play on far less costly or sophisticated vehicles.

Read the many many posts on the obstacles of putting in aftermarket...possible, but a serious hill climb. However, you can do a on screen Garmin NAV, add Video (DVD) and many many other things to your current COMAND. I am forbidden to promote here as we are currently not advertising on the site, but if you look you will find plenty of info.
