Oil thread alert! Oil thread alert!

If your engine hasn't melted down or exploded in the last year of operation with the present synthetic oil . . . stick with it.

If you're still curious, there is an excellent "Search" feature in the vBulletin software that this forum uses that will fill your days and nights with past responses by other members to this oft asked question.

You need motor oil approved by Mercedes.

It's very simple and there is no need for further discussion.

Just to be clear:
If it's not on the list it isn't suitable.
If the approval is not printed on the bottle, it isn't suitable.

Mick5; Mobil 1 is excellent Oil. I use it in all my cars, motorcycles. You mention Oil Viscocity. No one here can make that call. You see 10W40 is fine here in Florida as it meets a wide range of Temperatures. If your in the frozen tundra you cannot use 10W40 ( we're about to go into Winter period). Go to your Owner's Manual Chart and determine what range you will encounter in the next 7-8,000miles. Then choose what Mfgr. Oil you want and go with it.
