P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Hello. I am having problem with my car, which is e320 1998. I've looked at every thread about this problem, and still have a few questions. Here is my situation.

My transmission started acting funny, started switching funny, then it would stuck in 2nd gear and wouldn't switch to anything else. I would stop the car, turn it on again - everything works fine, then after sometime - same thing, 2nd only. It acted like this for couple days, then CEL came on and car would stay in 2nd and R gears permanently, which is Limp Home mode. So i ordered a new TCU, put it in and car worked for 2 minutes fine, gears would switch fine, but only for 2 minutes, then i stopped the car, turn it on again - it works fine, for 2 minutes, then it stopped working again permanenetly until now. I also took off minus wire off the battery, to clear the CEL light. So i noticed that CEL comes on when i press gas and it goes up to 4000 rmp, only then it comes on.

So my questions are, why did new TCU worked for only 2 minutes?
And what would be the problem with my car, a conductor plate?

Please help me.

Thanks!

Mileage is 208k, not sure when fluid was changed. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that TCU was fully loaded with tranny fluid, so i have a leak i guess.

Yeah, i forgot to mention. TCU was full of transmission fluid, so i had to order a new one, put a new one in and it worked for 2 minutes. I am wondering why did it work at all, and why for 2 minutes? :/

Do you think maybe if i reset the codes with MB scanner, then transmission would start working?

Give this a read and it has answers to all your questions, including why the new ETC (TCU called by you) worked for 2 minutes. Your old one, full of fluid, has a 99% chance being still good (although it needs a code reset), IMHO.

Thank you for such a wonderful thread about transmission.

So i went to MB today and they cleared codes for $65, car worked again in the same manner, gears switched for about 2 minutes, then car went to the same position - Limp Home Mode, and stuck again at the same point. Seems like there is something more serious ?? Any ideas, if any? :/ Just trying to at least see what the problem is, don't have too much money to spend on fixing car at this point.. Any help appreciated

You are only clearing the symptom rather than fixing the cause. Your speed sensors (conductor plate) need to be replaced. After that, one move code clearing will get your car running. The speed sensors are triggering the codes.

Conductor plate replacement is also covered in the link given above.
