benz c300 or lexus is250

I wil buy an used car in next minth. I am preparing about the lexus and benz. The lexus is250, made in 2006. the benz c300 is made in 2008. both of them have run at most 40,000 miles. I think the lexus is more comfortable, but the benz is more safety. in fact, i think the lexus has nicer exterior, however, the benz has better handing. I am confuse about choosing one of them. could you tell me which one do u think is better?

Style and drivability are one thing, however what about the construction and safety differences between the two cars? Put both cars side by side if you can and push on the body panels. Pull up and down on the doors and watch the IS "B" pillar flex. Put both cars on a lift and look at the underside of both. I think the IS is a great looking car with a lot of gadgets.. but the C is the total package.

Some of the finest luxury vehicles on the road...

I have owned two Lexus's and still currently own a 97 ES with 127,000 miles on it. The only thing I have ever done to it other than normal maintenance is to put valve cover gaskets on. Absolutely the best car I have ever owned out of a dozen or so. My wife on the other hand has a 2001 Benz with only 53,000 miles and it has had more problems than I can remember. It will be replaced with a Lexus very shortly. Trust me on this. Unless you have a pocket full of money and don't mind blowing it on junk you do not want a Benz. Parts for these cars a rediculously high. Oh, when you go to have your brake pads replaced be prepared to replace the rotors also. They wear as fast as the pads! I had a 1/4 by 2" long nylon vacuum fitting that dry rotted and broke. I could not buy it separatly. I had to buy hose and fitting on the other end which costed $48. Take some good advise and don't buy a Mercedes or you will regret it I promise you.

If you want reliability then definitely go with a Lexus. I you want the badge, then the Benz has to be it.

I think you're comparing an apple and an orange. The C-class and the Lexus ES are apples and apples. The IS is smaller and lighter than the ES. I had a '00 ES300 that was probably the best car I've ever owned. We also had a GS300 (same year). We swapped them for '04 W220 S430 and an '04 LS 430. The Lexus is going to be more trouble-free than the MRZ. But, as Cancer Researcher says, if you want the brand, the MRZ is the only way to go.

My German made C350 W204 is great, rides smooth as silk and the sound of silence goes with you on your trips. The Lexus 250 is a car with not so good pick-up, less power, a lesser tranny, but is built with excellent reliability and has a superior service network. Though both are top notch luxury lines and not cheap as such, the MB seems to have higher priced components. Nevertheless, depreciation of the Mercedes is surprisingly better than that of the Toyota. One thing to note about MB: see the car before purchasing it, so you upgrade what you find to your dislike (too much plastic on the basic units?).

It all boils down to your preference of an unforgettable ride (Was it a Lawrence Oliver flick Mercedes Benz, an unforgettable ride?), or to your better liking of what Toyota does for you (if chosen you must kick your heels high).

Cheers, and enjoy what you will buy. JV
