Red face 1994 Mercedes SL 600 No power

I haven't seen a post on exactly the problem I am having. I bought this car about a year ago on ebay. I have been in the process of moving and been so busy I have,nt had a chance to really work on it, just sitting in garage. The last few days I have been working on it and trying a few things I read on forums and the guy that had it had a few of the past dealer records. They said that the MAF sensors were not in acceptable range or something like that, and they installed new ones and the problem was still there, and ofcourse the guy had them put old ones back on. They then said they checked the wiring harness,(remember it is a 94 bad year for wiring.) Of course it was bad, why did,nt they check this in the first place. Well the guy was fed up because he had spent a lot on the hydralic suspension and sold it cheap on ebay. Well I read about the wiring harness problem on these forums and started checking it, by the way this car has only 71,000 miles. The only wiring that I have come across that looks bad is the twist off connectors going to MAF's. I cut the outside material away and individually wrapped them in tape and re applied., But the problem persist. Car has terrible performance. A Geo Metro would wax it anyday. It starts and runs beautiful. Idels perfect. If you just gun it sitting there idling revs up very good. But when you take to the road as long as you baby it,you can go 60 or 70. But if you press down very hard on accellerator at all just bogs out, engine does,nt quit but just no power. Also it makes transmission shift hard. The fuel injection wires running down middle of engine with plastic cover off look brand new. I am really stumped on this one.

If you go to the R129 forum on this site, the guys there should be able to help--or at least will be familiar with your car. My R129 is an SL500, so my help isn't worth much. I expect one of the 600 owners there can shed some light on the problem.

Good luck.
